I just finished putting on a 4″ ProComp lift kit on my personal truck. I went with the upgraded MX series shocks and added in a steering stabilizer. I went with the Procomp series 6079 20″ wheels wrapped in 35″ Nitto Terra Grapplers. The ride of the truck is phenomenal, and tire noise is pretty much non-existent. The install was **NOT** painless, big thanks go to the crew at Apex Automotive in Wellington, FL! Check out the finished product below.

FORD’S NEW CLEAN DIESEL PROVIDES CLASS-LEADING CAPABILITY IN FIRST-EVER HEAVY TRUCK APPLICATION

New 6.4-liter Power Stroke® diesel with Ford Clean Diesel Technology™ provides an increase in performance with a sharp decrease in particulates and emissions

Sequential turbochargers improve off-the-line performance with smooth acceleration through the power band

High-pressure, common rail fuel system with Piezo-electric injectors delivers quiet operation without compromising performance

Ford is leading the truck diesel revolution with the first clean diesel engine offered in a full-size pickup truck. The new Ford-exclusive 6.4-liter Power Stroke® turbo-diesel is quieter, powerful and more capable, yet it still meets stringent new emissions regulations thanks to Ford Clean Diesel Technology™.

The 6.4-liter Power Stroke clean-diesel delivers 350 horsepower at 3,000 rpm, 650 foot-pounds of torque starting at 2,000 rpm and has particulate emissions on par with gasoline engines – a 97 percent reduction from the 6.0-liter. It has also been tested the equivalent of 10 million miles on road and in the lab, helping ensure excellent long-term durability.

“No diesel engine has ever delivered this much power and refinement with such clean emissions,” said Rick Renwick, Diesel Powertrain chief engineer. “We didn’t compromise on anything.”

A tough, cast iron block and heads provide a strong, durable foundation for making power and torque. A new cylinder head design and piston bowl design optimize the high-cylinder pressures delivered by the high-pressure fuel system. The higher pressures provide more efficient combustion, delivering increased power and cleaner emissions.

The pistons mount to the forged-steel crankshaft with larger, stronger rods that feature an increased rob bearing diameter. The pistons are galley-cooled for increased durability.

Two sequential turbochargers provide improved throttle response throughout the entire power band with better low-end performance. Tests have shown zero-to-60 times of more than a second faster than the outgoing 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel.

A smaller, variable geometry turbocharger comes on at low rpm to provide extra boost at take-off. As engine speed increases, the larger fixed turbo joins the smaller turbo to boost power through the middle of the torque curve. As optimum speed is reached, the larger turbo takes over. The system can deliver up to 42 pounds of boost.

Ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel is fed to the engine via a state-of-the-art, high-pressure common rail fuel injection system. Fuel pressurized to 26,000 psi is injected into the cylinders through Piezo-electric injectors. The latest in injector technology can deliver up to five injections per combustion cycle to better control emissions, provide instant response for optimized acceleration and improve cold start down to –20°F.

Dual 440 mm exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) coolers feature an air oxidation catalyst that literally scrubs the exhaust gasses to protect coolers against fouling and EGR valve deposits.

The Power Stroke’s engine control module (ECM) has been improved for 2008. Fuel controls and engine controls are now integrated into the same, rugged cast aluminum housing, enabling proper operation of the state-of-the-art engine technologies. The ECM durability tests were increased by two times to insure robustness.

The highly efficient, exhaust system combines engine and emissions-control technologies such as the diesel particulate filter (DPF) and oxidation catalyst into a close-knit system, removing nearly 97 percent of the diesel particulate.

A larger fuel filter better separates water from the fuel, an important asset with the increasing availability of biodiesel.

Keeping it cool increases power and durability

The Super Duty cooling system has been designed to handle extremes. Engineers based the system tests on the F-550 chassis cab’s pulling gate of 33,000-pounds, combined weight. Super Duty’s radiator has grown by 33 percent and a larger water pump nearly doubles the coolant flow rate from 75 to 140 gallons per minute.

“We have designed the industry’s most robust cooling system to provide maximum power and torque under extreme operating conditions,” said Renwick.

An all-new engine from an all-new development process

The 6.4-liter diesel is more than just a clean-sheet-of-paper engine. It benefits from a new development process optimizing durability, performance, fuel economy and emissions.

The engineering team began by collecting real-world data from working Super Duty commercial customers, tracking their daily duty cycles to ensure the development process more accurately reflected real-world use.

The data was used to develop durability tests that were more representative of these real-world duty cycles. For example, this engine program marked the first time that dynamometer tests were run with the transmission bolted to the engine during the durability run, allowing engineers to see how the up-shifts and downshifts affected the powertrain during the duty cycle.

The tests were conducted using the most extreme and abusive conditions and run to five-times the life cycle that the hardest-working truck would ever experience, further assuring durability.

“When we launched the new truck earlier this year, the engine had already seen more than 10 million equivalent miles of testing both on the dynamometer and on the road,” said Renwick.

The extended testing hours allowed the team to scrutinize every component and system under theses customer-driven conditions. As a result, more than 500 design improvements were made to the diesel powertrain to improve performance and durability.

Powertrain options include the segment’s most powerful gasoline engine
The all-new 6.4-liter diesel joins a proven gasoline powertrain lineup that includes the 6.8-liter, three-valve Triton™ V-10 that makes 362 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque – both class-leading figures.

Customers also can choose Ford’s modular 5.4-liter, three-valve Triton™ V-8 that delivers 300 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. More than 80 percent of peak torque – nearly 300 pound-feet – is available starting as low as 1,000 rpm.

Both engines benefit from electronic throttle control, which provides economy and performance benefits. For commercial users who need elevated engine speed to run aftermarket power takeoff (PTO) systems, the “stationary elevated idle control” feature is available on all models.

The gasoline engines feature all-new exhaust systems and newly designed air boxes that mount solidly to the new modular front structure. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual with overdrive or a TorqShift™ 5-speed automatic. The transmissions utilize a new, unique mounting system that better isolates the powertrain and reduces vibration.

Transmissions feature all-new gear sets and a three-plate, two-stage torque converter to reduce turbine noise when the converter is locked. The F-450 uses upgraded synchronizers to enable electronic shift on the fly.

About Ford Motor Company

Ford Motor Company, a global automotive industry leader based in Dearborn, Mich., manufactures or distributes automobiles in 200 markets across six continents.
Aeroforce Ford CN Series SINGLE Interceptor Scan Gauge

The Interceptor is capable of displaying the following parameters, two at a time (8 using cyclic scan), at an adjustable rate of up to approximately 20 times per second. Not all are supported by every vehicle, so there is no guarantee that the Interceptor will display all of these on your particular car or truck. If the vehicle is broadcasting the parameter, the Interceptor will recognize this and make it available for display.

* Vehicle must have a Mass Air Flow sensor to obtain these parameters.

** 0-5v inputs can be configured to read the outputs from MAP sensors, Air/Fuel ratio kits, pressure or temperature sensors, etc. Raw voltage can be displayed or a conversion can be entered to read proper units. See our sensor page for compatible Aeroforce sensor kits.

Now available for Ford Powerstroke (excluding 2008) For questions visit our technical forums at aeroforcetech.com/forum The Interceptor gauge is 52mm (2 1/16″) in diameter and will fit in all standard gauge pods of this size. A 5′ cable is included with appropriate OBD2 connector. A splitter cable is included with the dual Interceptor units.

A function menu is available by pushing both buttons simultaneously. The first option allows you to enter a record mode. Once selected, the Interceptor will return to normal scan mode, but will start recording the displayed data automatically when the throttle exceeds 60%. Approximately 45-60 seconds of data will be stored. Returning to the menu screen, you can choose to replay the stored data on the Interceptor display.

The gauge displays 2 parameters at a time, but can be programmed to cycle through up to 8 parameters during a user determined period of time. This way you can monitor several items without taking any other actions.

The Interceptor’s scan rate can be adjusted through a menu function.

DTC’s (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) can be accessed and cleared via menu options.

A performance measurement mode is available as well. Once selected the gauge will measure 0-60 mph time, 1/8 and 1/4 mile elapsed time with speed.

High intensity LEDs can be used as shift lights or warning lights to indicate when a selected parameter exceeds an entered threshold. Due to the gauges extremely fast update rate, this light is very accurate and easy to set. Once you try it you’ll find you can’t live without it!

Finally the two analog inputs can be configured through menu choices. A linear conversion can be entered so that an analog signal connected to the gauge can be read in appropriate units. These inputs are handy for pressure signals such as those from MAP and oil pressure sensors, analog outputs from Air/Fuel ratio kits, etc. These signal can then be read and recorded along side the other parameters obtained on the vehicle’s bus.

Installation is accomplished by simply plugging the supplied connector into the OBD2 port below the steering wheel and connecting a separate included wire to a switched 12v vehicle power source. Virtually plug-and-play!

The Interceptor OBD2 scan gauge

What is it?
The Interceptor is a powerful 2 1/16″ gauge that reads, displays, and records up to 8* of numerous important engine operating parameters, as well as functions as a highly accurate shift/warning light and performance timer. These parameters are accessed via the vehicle’s OBD2 port (diagnostic port located under the dash). This is critical data necessary for performance tuning and problem diagnosis. The Interceptor also reads and clears DTC’s (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and now has two user configurable analog inputs. Click on the appropriate application to the left for more in depth descriptions. This gauge has several patented features that will not be found on any other gauge.

Using Cyclic Scan (TM)

Some examples of available parameters are:

Engine RPM

Transmission Temperature

Knock Retard

Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor

Oil Temperature

Turbo or Supercharger Boost Pressure

Ignition advance

Engine temperature

Fuel Economy (MPG)

Horsepower

and many more..

This gauge will keep you interior looking tight, no bulky laptop, PDA, or unsightly box to look at. Once installed, the Interceptor will enhance the appearance of your vehicle’s interior, rather than detract from it like other devices that are suctioned to the windshield or velcroed to the dash.

How does it work?

The Interceptor can be run by itself or in tandem with another Interceptor. The Interceptor is programmed to display the most important parameters supported by a given vehicle. It displays any two user chosen parameters on a brightly colored backlit LCD screen. There are several optional display, bezel , and face colors to choose from. See our images section for examples. Two switches, one for each field, allow the user to toggle through these parameters. The display is updated up to 20 times per second, ensuring that you will not miss any important data. A menu screen is available that enables you, among other things, to record data, replay the recorded data, view any stored trouble codes, clear these codes, set up the warning lights, invert the display colors, adjust the scan rate, or return to the normal real time scan function. The Interceptor automatically powers down when the vehicle is turned off and stores the current display configuration. This allows the unit to return to the same screen once the vehicle is restarted.

Applications Currently the Interceptor will interface with most gasoline and diesel powered 1996 and up GM and car or truck that is OBD2 compliant, many Ford vehicles, as well as a growing number of Chrysler products.

The actual number of available parameters will vary depending on the manufacturer’s specifications for that vehicle.

For the 6.0 liter vehicles, Sniper has unlocked the mystery of towing with power with their exclusive 100 horsepower towing program. Unlike other tuners for the 6.0 liter, Sniper’s tuning kit has no coolant issues, extremely low Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGT’s) and low cylinder pressure even while towing heavy loads.

Recon LED Tail Lights for the 99-08 Superduty Trucks F250/350/450/550. They run $299.95 for the set.

Recon LED Tail Lights are direct replacements for the stock tail light and still offer full functionality for running lights, brake lights, and turn signals.

They use Light Emitting Diodes (LED) to create extra brightness and an amazing appearance as well as LED lights last longer than conventional light bulbs. In fact the LED light lasts about 80 times longer and is 10 times brighter than a stock conventional light bulb.

Available in several different lens colors and styles including: Smoked, Clear, Red, and Dark Red. This way you get to choose the look you want.

Installation of the LED Tail Light assembly is a breeze. Just remove the stock piece and disconnect the wire connector. Then just plug in the Recon connector to the stock wire harness and bolt the Recon assembly back on the truck. For 2008+ Superduty trucks for changed some of the wiring so there’s an extra step needed for installation. Those instructions can be obtained by emailing your Recon Truck Accessories supplier.
